This Usage Policy describes what Vettan may and may not be used for. It applies to everyone who uses the Service and forms part of our Terms of Service.

Key points

  • Researching difficult or sensitive subjects is welcome: history, current events, health, security, crime, and politics. The rules below target harmful uses, not topics.
  • Some things are never allowed, above all anything that sexualizes children.
  • Questions, answers, and audio text are screened automatically. Content that appears to break these rules is blocked and not saved.
  • Breaking these rules can lead to suspension or closure of your account.

01Research on sensitive topics is welcome#

Vettan is a research tool, and good research often deals with uncomfortable subjects. You may use it to understand, report on, study, or protect against harmful things, for example:

  • the history of wars, terrorism, or genocide;
  • how scams or cyberattacks work, so that people can recognize and defend against them;
  • public health information about drugs, suicide, or self-harm;
  • journalism, academic research, policy analysis, and fact-checking.

What matters is the purpose and the likely effect of a request. A question that asks about a harm is treated differently from one that asks for help carrying it out.

02What you must not use Vettan for#

Child safety

Never allowed, with no exceptions: any content that sexualizes minors, including child sexual abuse material. Content involving the grooming, exploitation, or abuse of children is also prohibited. Where the law requires, we report child sexual abuse material to the relevant authorities.

Violence and weapons

  • Planning, inciting, threatening, or glorifying violence against people or groups.
  • Supporting terrorist or violent extremist groups, including recruitment, propaganda, or financing.
  • Seeking meaningful help to make or acquire weapons capable of mass harm: chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or explosive.
  • Getting operational instructions for building weapons or getting around weapons laws.
  • Graphic depictions of violence or gore made to shock, glorify, or celebrate it.

Self-harm

  • Encouraging, promoting, or giving instructions for suicide, self-harm, or disordered eating.

Talking about your own distress doesn’t break this policy. Vettan can’t help with it, so it will point you to people who can instead. If you’re struggling, you don’t have to face it alone. Please contact local emergency services if you are in danger, or find free, confidential support at findahelpline.com.

Harassment and hate

  • Bullying, threatening, intimidating, or harassing anyone.
  • Promoting hatred of, or dehumanizing, people based on protected characteristics such as race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, disability, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

Sexual content

  • Creating sexually explicit content.
  • Sexual content involving real people without their consent.

Privacy and surveillance

  • Doxxing: finding or exposing someone’s home address, contact details, or other private information.
  • Compiling profiles of private individuals, or tracking or monitoring them without their consent.
  • Processing sensitive information about people (health, biometrics, sexual life, beliefs) without a lawful basis.

Fraud, deception, and manipulation

  • Scams, phishing, fraud, and other attempts to cheat people.
  • Impersonating a real person or organization in order to mislead.
  • Fake reviews, academic dishonesty where it is prohibited, or plagiarism presented as original work.
  • Coordinated disinformation, or content designed to deceive voters or interfere with elections.

Cybersecurity

  • Creating malware, ransomware, or exploits intended for unauthorized use.
  • Planning or carrying out attacks on systems or accounts you don’t own or aren’t authorised to test.

Illegal activity and others’ rights

  • Facilitating illegal activity, such as trafficking, illegal drugs, or illegal gambling.
  • Infringing copyright, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights.

High-stakes decisions about people

  • Using Output as the only basis for decisions about people’s employment, housing, credit, insurance, education, legal status, or medical care, without meaningful review by a qualified person.

Abusing the Service

  • Using bots, scripts, or scrapers to access the Service, or extracting data from it in bulk.
  • Getting around rate limits, usage limits, or content screening, including by creating multiple accounts or using other people’s accounts.
  • Prompt-injection attacks or other attempts to make the Service act against its rules or reveal its internal instructions.
  • Disrupting the Service, or testing its security without written permission.
  • Reselling or redistributing access to the Service.

03How we enforce this policy#

Automated screening. We use automated content screening, provided by OpenAI, on questions, generated answers, and text sent for audio. When content appears to break this policy:

  • a flagged question is declined before any research runs;
  • a flagged answer is withheld, removed from the screen, and not saved to your history;
  • flagged audio text is not read aloud.

Account action. Repeated or serious violations may lead to warnings, feature restrictions, suspension, or permanent closure of your account. Activity involving child sexual abuse material leads to immediate closure and, where the law requires, a report to the authorities.

Mistakes. Automated screening is imperfect, and some legitimate requests will be blocked. If that happens, try rephrasing your question. If you think we got it wrong, contact us and we’ll look at it.

04Reporting misuse#

If you see Vettan being used in a way that breaks this policy, or you find a security vulnerability, please email yasshh17@gmail.com. Please don’t include harmful material itself in your report. Describe it instead.

05Changes#

We may update this policy as the Service, the risks, or the law change. The “Last updated” date above shows when it last changed.
