These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Yash Tambakhe (“we”, “us” or “our”), the individual who builds and operates Vettan. They cover your use of the Vettan website, research assistant, and related features (together, the “Service”).

Please read them carefully. Our Usage Policy forms part of these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information.

Key points

  • Vettan is a free, non-commercial demonstration project run by one person. It comes with no uptime commitment and may change or be shut down.
  • You must be 18 or older to use it.
  • You own what you type in, and to the extent we can, we give you our rights in the answers you receive.
  • Answers are AI-generated from public web sources and can be wrong. Check anything important. They are not professional advice.
  • We automatically screen questions and answers, and may block requests that break the Usage Policy.
  • You can delete your account at any time from Settings.

01About Vettan and these Terms#

Vettan is an AI research assistant. When you ask a question, it searches the public web, selects relevant sources, and writes a report with citations. You can ask follow-up questions, keep a history of your conversations, and have answers read aloud.

Vettan is a personal demonstration project. It is not a commercial product, it is not offered by a company, and nobody pays to use it.

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

02Who can use Vettan#

You may use the Service only if:

  • you are at least 18 years old;
  • you can form a binding agreement with us; and
  • you are not barred from using the Service under any applicable law.

If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for that organization, and “you” includes it.

03Your account#

You need an account to use most of the Service. When you create one, you agree to:

  • give an email address you control and keep it up to date;
  • keep your password confidential and not share your account with anyone else;
  • tell us promptly at yasshh17@gmail.com if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission.

You are responsible for activity on your account. Each account is for one person.

04Using the Service#

Permission to use. As long as you comply with these Terms, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable permission to use the Service.

Usage Policy. You must follow our Usage Policy, which describes what the Service may not be used for.

Limits. To keep the Service available and its costs under control, we apply rate limits and daily usage limits. These may change at any time. When you reach a limit, some features will stop working until the limit resets. Cached copies of your own earlier answers may stay available.

Changes to the Service. We may add, change, or remove features at any time, including the AI models and search providers we use.

05Your content#

Input and Output. You may submit questions and other content (“Input”) and receive reports, answers, citations, and audio (“Output”). Together, Input and Output are “Content”.

Ownership. As between you and us, and to the extent permitted by law, you keep all rights in your Input, and we assign to you any rights we have in Output.

Our permission to use Content. You give us permission to store, process, and transmit your Content only as needed to provide and protect the Service. This includes sending it to our service providers as described in the Privacy Policy, screening it for policy violations, and keeping your conversation history. We do not use your Content to train AI models.

Similar Output. Because of how AI works, other users may receive Output that is similar or identical to yours. Rights assigned to you under this section do not extend to other users’ Output.

Your responsibility. You are responsible for your Input. You confirm that you have the rights needed to submit it and that it does not break the law or these Terms. You are also responsible for how you use Output, including checking it before relying on it or sharing it.

06AI output and accuracy#

Vettan uses machine learning to generate answers from web sources it selects automatically. This has limits that you should understand:

  • Output may be inaccurate, incomplete, out of date, or misleading. It can misstate what a source says, or present something as fact that isn’t.
  • Citations point to third-party websites that we don’t control. A cited source may itself be wrong, may have changed since it was retrieved, or may not fully support the statement it is attached to.
  • Output does not reflect our views and is not a statement by us.
  • Output is not professional advice. Do not rely on it as legal, medical, financial, tax, or other professional advice, or as a substitute for a qualified professional.

Check Output against its sources and use your own judgment, especially when decisions matter.

07Third-party sources and services#

The Service relies on third parties, including OpenAI (for AI models, content screening, and text-to-speech) and Tavily (for web search). Answers include links to and excerpts from third-party websites.

We are not responsible for third-party websites or their content, availability, or practices. When you visit a cited website, its own terms and privacy policy apply.

08Automated content screening#

To keep the Service safe and within our providers’ policies, we automatically screen questions, generated answers, and text sent for audio. If content appears to violate the Usage Policy, we may decline the request or withhold the answer. In that case the answer is not saved to your history.

Automated screening is imperfect. It may occasionally block legitimate requests or miss harmful ones. If you think a request was blocked by mistake, try rephrasing it or contact us at yasshh17@gmail.com.

09What you must not do#

In addition to the rules in the Usage Policy, you must not:

  • use the Service in a way that breaks any law or infringes anyone’s rights;
  • access the Service through bots, scripts, scrapers, or other automated means, except as we expressly allow;
  • get around rate limits, usage limits, content screening, or other protective measures, including by creating multiple accounts;
  • probe, scan, or test the security of the Service without our written permission;
  • interfere with or disrupt the Service or the infrastructure it runs on;
  • resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to others as part of a product or service;
  • represent Output as written by a person when it was not, where that would mislead;
  • use Output to develop models that compete with the providers whose models power the Service, where their terms prohibit this.

10Feedback#

If you send us suggestions, bug reports, or other feedback, we may use it freely without any obligation to you.

11Intellectual property#

The Vettan name and logo belong to us. These Terms do not give you any right to use them except as needed to use the Service.

Vettan’s source code is published under the MIT License. Your rights in the code are governed by that license, not by these Terms, and the license does not cover the Vettan name or logo. These Terms govern your use of the hosted Service.

12Availability and discontinuation#

Vettan is a demonstration project maintained by one person. We do not promise any level of availability, response time, or support. The Service may be unavailable, slow, or limited at any time, for example during maintenance, when a provider has an outage, or when daily capacity is reached.

We may stop offering the Service at any time. If we do, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email or in the Service before we delete your data, so you have time to copy anything you want to keep.

13Suspension and termination#

By you. You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting your account permanently removes your conversation history, as described in the Privacy Policy.

By us. We may suspend or close your account, or restrict your access, if:

  • you break these Terms or the Usage Policy;
  • your use creates a risk or possible legal exposure for us, other users, or our providers;
  • we are required to by law; or
  • we stop offering the Service.

Where reasonable, we’ll tell you in advance and give the reason. We may act without notice when that is needed to prevent harm or abuse.

Sections 5, 6, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, and 18 continue to apply after these Terms end.

14Disclaimers#

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind, express, implied, or statutory. This includes warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and quiet enjoyment, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage of trade.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that Content will be stored without loss, or that Output will be accurate.

15Limitation of liability#

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, or data, even if we were told they were possible; and
  • our total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose, or USD 50. Because the Service is free, this will normally be USD 50.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

16Indemnity#

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) brought by third parties that arise from your Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms or the law.

17Changes to these Terms#

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the Service or the law. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above. If a change is material, we will tell you in advance by email or in the Service. Changes will not apply to anything that happened before they took effect.

If you continue to use the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you don’t agree, please stop using the Service and delete your account.

18General terms#

  • Your statutory rights. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection or other laws that cannot be waived or limited by contract.
  • Entire agreement. These Terms, including the Usage Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. The Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information but is not part of this agreement.
  • Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum extent possible, and the rest will continue in effect.
  • No waiver. If we don’t enforce a provision right away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You may not transfer these Terms to anyone else. We may transfer them to someone who takes over the Service, provided your rights are not reduced.
  • No third-party beneficiaries. These Terms do not give rights to anyone other than you and us.
